这是“动态形容词”与be搭配时的进行体用法.有逐渐和暂时怎样之意
英语的形容词按其词汇意义可以化分为静态形容词和动态形容词.静态形容词描绘人或者是物的静态特征,比如tall,short,deep,ugly,solid等.静态形容词描绘的特征处于相对静止稳定状态.一个人“矮（short）”就矮,不可能一会儿矮一会儿高.大多数形容词都是静态的,但少数形容词带有动态含义,比如brave,careful,clever,foolish,patient等等.我们可能聪明一世糊涂一时,所以clever和foolish都是动态形容词.范跑跑可能平时还算个不错的人,但在地震发生之时他的表现是selfish的.
动态形容词可以和be 搭配时使用进行时表示的是某一特征的“暂时性”,也就是某人或某物在某一特定时刻“显示出某种特征”.
试比较：
He is very selfish.他属于自私的那类人,长期如此.
He is being very selfish.他在某个特定的时候表现得很自私,平时可能并不会这样.
再如：你有个很吝啬的朋友今天突然对你慷慨起来要请你大吃一顿,这是你就可以说：
You are being so generous.
最后：静态形容词不能这么用,所以 He is being tall不符合使用习惯.另外动态形容词可以用在祈使句中,而静态形容词却不能.

前面的是平常的be，后面的being这个be是“成为，变得”的意思
